Toy Cook Stove:
I made this toy stove from 1/2 Inch furniture grade plywood. It was a Christmas gift for my youngest grandsons, 1 and 2 years old. The stove eyes are made from the same plywood, one side painted black, the other side painted red. The stove eyes are held in place over a round head bolt in the stove top. The grandsons turn the eyes over to the red side when cooking and turn them back to black when the meal is done. They also turn the knobs to the on position. The oven door hinges to the left because I have found it is very hard to deal with a door that hinges on the bottom. The door has a sheet of Plexiglas to watch things cook in the oven! The oven rack is a standard closet shelving. The drawer on the bottom slides on sliders and can be completely removed from under the oven. The youngest grandson tried to get into the oven on Christmas Day! They put the stove in the kitchen at their house and help mom cook meals. Mom Loves It Too! |
Antique Hutch Replica:
When my wife and I were married in 1973, we purchased a food pantry cabinet that was made like the one shown here. It was bought at an estate auction and no telling what year it was originally made. We decided to build a new one to the exact dimensions of the original antique one. The result show here is totally beautiful and now houses some of my wife's most precious objects. It is made from pine wood purchased from Lowes. We decided to leave it natural color and clear coat. |
TV, Entertainment Center and
Portable Electric Fireplace Display: This design is from my youngest son Craig to his mother. It is made from a basic 2 x 4 inner structure, with hardwood oak flooring around the outside. Craig used a small propane torch to burn the wood before using clear poly urethane finish. It sets in the corner and can hold a large flat screen TV. His Mom Loves It! |
Faux Electric Fireplace Mantle:
I build these Faux Electric Fireplaces from one 4' x 8' sheet of Faux Brick from our local lumber yard. The base and mantle are made from 2x12 lumber. The fire base is made from 18" x 36" tile. They are light weight, considering what they look like. After I assemble them, I paint the brick and mortar to match, then poly cote them for a beautiful shine. |
Queen Size Bed:
My son Craig and I made this queen size bed with 4x4 post and decorative knobs, 2x4 framing and 3/4 inch pine plywood for the bed base, We used hardwood oak tongue and groove flooring for the headboard, footboard, and matching end tables. Craig used a propane torch to burn the wood before we clear coated. As an alternative form of use, we made legs only for the foot of the bed and stored the footboard. This method gives the smaller room in his apartment a much larger look. |
Twin Bookcases.
These twin bookcases were built to fit into a recessed section of a wall. However, they would be too heavy as one unit. Therefore, the idea of twin bookcases. They are built from 3/4-inch oak plywood, stained and clear coated. They have been moved from room to room and have been useful storage for different things. They will be moving back to their original location after the next room renovation. |
